Boom Boom Bollywood performs and teaches all over the world. What is Bollywood, you ask? "Bollywood" = "Bombay" + "Hollywood". It's the catch-name for the Indian movie industry... and Bollywood movies are musicals that are just packed full of funky versions of traditional Indian dances. Imagine hip-hop combined with Bharatanatyam, silk saris plus glitter, athletic movement plus controlled hand expressions! Samantha Riggs, Director, has studied Bollywood dance and her troupe performs Bollywood musical numbers faithful to the movie choreographies, plus original dances in tribal form, complete with cues, combos and formations. Their two-hour tribute to Hindi Cinema was performed in January at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts in Arizona to rave reviews!
